Our story begins in 1997 at Yaletown Technology Group. This is where Darren Peloso and Sean Fitzpatrick (Principals and Founders of RKO) started in ECM and where they met and worked together, successfully implementing FileNet (now an IBM product) throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
After going through two acquisitions at Yaletown Technology Group (first by FileNet then by IBM), an “ah ha” moment came to Sean and Darren. They saw it was time to break out and embark on their own journey. With all the stars and moons aligned, RKO was born in 2006. The mission—to serve FileNet customers in the region, enhanced by Sean and Darren’s dynamic ECM and RM experience.
The dynamic duo picked up where Yaletown left off, helping customers grow, support and sustain their ECM platforms—customers such as BC Hydro, Terasen (now FortisBC), TransCanada, VanCity, North Shore Credit Union, Chelan County, just to name a few.
The First Big Success
RKO’s first big success came with the world-wide Records Management implementation for NACCO Materials Handling Group. The manufacturer of Yale and Hyster brand fork lifts enlisted RKO to help them create an RM program, pilot it and then implement it in numerous facilities across 19 countries and 3,000 employees.
This was RKO’s first foray into the concept of ECM MasterPlanning and to successfully implement programs enterprise wide. The timing was perfect as SharePoint was starting to steamroll through organizations leaving behind thousands of ungoverned Team Sites and their business records.
It didn’t take long for the team to realize Microsoft SharePoint was embedded in every one of their customers and rapidly becoming a strategic platform for ECM. The tools were just too easy to implement and added significant business value. Within a short period of time, RKO was committed to supporting the SharePoint platform and became GOLD certified for ‘Content Management’ and ‘Portals and Collaboration’.
Today & The Future
Today, we provide FileNet ECM services to 40 different organizations and have delivered hundreds of successful projects. RKO continues to innovate by extending their ECM Master Planning approach and leveraging partner technologies to make clients’ ECM solutions:

• Provide higher value to end-users
More and more ECM will show up embedded within and supporting Portals, Intranets, Extranets, Social Business Sites, specialized physical hardware and mobile units throughout the field. Wow, what exciting times!
